I hope you are all doing well. Thank you for you patience while I got the blog up and running (I am learning as I go along).

I just wanted to quickly update you all on how things are progressing. Last Thursday was my last day at Arknsas Children’s Hospital as a full-time employee. I will still work occasionally until I leave, but I am no longer regularly scheduled. While I am sad about this change, I am excited because it allows me more time to focus on Angola. I am still concentrating on fund-raising at this time. God has been providing abundantly – it increases my faith to see Him provide so amazingly – but I still have a ways to go before I meet my goal to be able to leave the country. I have posted the fundraising letter and forms under the ‘Documents’ tab. If you know of people or churches who would be interested in becoming a part of the Kingdom work in Angola, feel free to pass along the information. Our team considers a part of our mission to be raising awareness of Angola, and connecting Christians there with other Christians around the world.

Please be in prayer about the Angola team’s preparation and fundraising. Our team as a whole has funds to raise before we can set out to follow our call. We know God has called us to Angola, and so we fundamentally know that He will provide. God has given me the knowing that He will provide. However, I admit that I still have occasional anxiety about everything falling into place and allowing our team to GO.  Oh ye of little faith! God’s plan is so much better than mine. I know that His timing, His provision, His way is perfect and so much higher than our ways. I sincerely thank you for your prayers. I can feel them. I see what is coming together and cannot not know that people are praying for this team and for Angola.

After extensive prayer and a survey trip last summer, I have decided to dedicate five years to working as a missionary in God’s Kingdom in Angola, Africa. I will be working with a team of people who all have the same calling and goals as I do. We will reside with and begin working alongside Angolan churches/church planters for a national impact in the central city of Huambo (WAHM-bu).

Angola has recently emerged from nearly half a century of war. The now-devastated country has so many immediate and long-term needs! God has placed a call on my heart to go to these hurting people and do what I can to share His healing, both spiritual and physical. (I feel my nursing education has blessed me with a tool to reach out to those in need of care, both in the community and health-care facilities.)

Our team will leave in January to pursue nine months of language training in Portugal, and will then move to Angola in October 2010. I am excited to be partnering with Little Rock Church and those of you who wish to be involved in helping me accomplish this goal!

As time draws closer to my arrival in Angola, I know God will reveal multiple chances for involvement of fellow Christians in this work. At this time I have two primary needs. First, I need prayers for myself and for the people God is leading me to in Angola. Secondly, I would ask you to consider contributing financially towards my salary and work fund, which will allow me to join the Kingdom work in Angola.

I still need  a large part of my financial support as well as one-time relocation funds. I trust that God will provide and I know that He does this through His people. Romans 10:14-15 includes the statement that the good news cannot be preached unless some are sent. This leads me to the conclusion that no ministry is simply one person’s calling, but a collaboration of God’s people who are all called to participate in different ways. I praise God for the vast riches He provides in this way! Please pray about supporting this work in Angola.

If you feel a call to contribute to the work I will be doing in Angola, contact me and I can get you the information you need. Initial moving and travel expenses are rapidly approaching, so the initiation of your support is greatly needed and will be truly appreciated. I would like to request that you please send all funds through Little Rock Church so that we can keep accurate and transparent accounts.

If you are interested in more information about Angola, the team, and the work we hope to accomplish you can visit the websites I have linked, leave me a question, or e-mail me directly. I will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

I will be sending out monthly newsletters and updates/prayer requests to keep you all informed of what I see God doing. If you are not yet receiving these updates, leave me a note or e-mail me at jordanyarbrough@gmail.com and I will fix that problem.

I can’t tell you all how much I truly appreciate your prayers and generosity. After having seen the need, I can’t imagine not going and taking the Gospel to the people of Angola. Thank you for your consideration.
